Dog not using back legs

Question Posted Saturday March 31 2012, 8:59 am

My 8 year old Bichon started limping the other day. Yesterday, she stopped using her back legs completely. She hasn't been eating or drinking water. Does anyone have any idea what's going on?

Please don't tell me to take her to the vet, I know I'm going to have to, I just don't have the money at the moment. :/

A Veterinarian can't give a diagnosis over the internet, phone, etc. He/She has to physically SEE the animal in order to diagnose. It's like asking your human doctor if you have strep throat without the doctor doing an exam on you.

It could be a pinched nerve, spinal injury, osteoarthritis, etc. The list is endless. Take the dog to the vet. Put the bill on a credit card. Or ask if a family member will pay and you can pay them back.

The dog needs to be seen. Good luck.

I know you don't want advice that's "take her to the vet" but you need to. No one can give you a diagnosis online. However, it sounds serious enough to take her ASAP. It could even be fatal. She might have broke something or pinched a nerve. If someone is wrong with her spine, that's very dangerous if it's not taken care of. You don't have to pay everything all at once. They have payment plans. At least call the vet and ask what your options are.
