eating problems

Question Posted Sunday March 18 2012, 12:37 am

13/f
Sorry for the length. Thanks in advance for all answers.
All my life, I've always been that fat girl that always eats. 2 years ago, it got the best of me, and I started skipping breakfast and eating only a little for lunch. Then, I would eat a ton at home. It went on for a few months until I realized it wasn't doing me any good. Then last year, a started doing it again except I would completely stop eating lunch because I had honor society stuff to do. And it didn't help that I was really self conscious around my bf and two of my best friends at the time did the same as me. It was so hard to stop. After my bf and I broke up and I drifted away from my friends, I started hanging out with a different group that basically forced me eat. At the beginning of this school year, I started high school and joined marching band. We practiced at least 8 hrs a week so I didn't have too much time to eat. But now that it's all over, I don't really have any exercise anymore. I started soccer again this season (I had quit for band), but it definitely isn't enough exercise to cover for the amount of food I eat. And I can't help the amount I eat. I'll just be sitting there, a few hours after I eat a meal, and I'll just go eat. I eat when I'm bored. I eat when I'm alone. Basically I eat whenever I get the chance. And I know its not healthy because I take the big bags of candy and eat it in about 2 weeks and cartons of cookies and eat them in a few days and a few bags of chips a day. And I have no self control. I can't talk to my parents about this because my mom would think that I'm weak and stupid and just yell at me (like she always does in these types of situations) and my dad just eats and eats and eats too. I know we both have problems but I feel like I can't tell anybody. Is there any way that I can stop all this and gain back my confidence?

I have no discipline when it comes to food either, so the key for me is to not have the stuff in my house. Can't control myself around cookies? I don't buy cookies. Then I can't eat them. Wolf down a bunch of chips? Don't buy chips. Then you won't be constantly tempted. Eat full meals- but they should be healthy. If everyday for lunch you eat a nice sandwich (ham/turkey, lettuce, tomato, etc) with a glass of milk or water, you will feel full and be healthy. Eat healthy meals and drink a ton of water. Water really helps weight loss. Also, cut out the chips. Chips are KILLER. They have so much salt and grease that they literally absorb your body's water and make you visibly bloated. Once you break the habit of eating chips (to do this, simply do NOT buy ANY chips) you will no longer crave them.

we usually eat more for our mouth than for our stoomach,it is the taste of the food which complels us to eat more, try eating food which are not as tasty but healthy so you would just for ur hunger not more.

eat like a king in the morning(breakfast)
like a queen for lunch
and like a pauper for dinner

Start packing yourself healthy snacks to bring to school. I would suggest
LITTLE ZIPLOCK BAGGIES of about 2-3 of these per day:
-triscuits
-celery/tomatoes/carrots
-whole grain goldfish (there delicious, w/ more health benefits/less fat!!)
-dried apricos
-raisins
-trail mix, such as
walnuts, pecans, almonds, peanuts (NOTE*** nuts are very high in calories, all you need is a small small portion)
-multigrain cheerios (low calories, low sodium, fibor, iron the health benefits just keep coming)

BRING THESE TO SCHOOL, SNACK ON THEM EVERY HOUR, and DONT DONT DONT EAT COOKIES!!!!
the reason I say snack on them every hour is because this is actually a great way to lose weigh, by keeping your metabolism going constantly. The key is small, frequent portions.

It will take about a week to lose weight, but I would say if you stuck to this/healthy eating, you could possibly lose 3-5 lbs a week!

also don't drink ANY caloried beverages, only WATER, JUICE, MILK! no soda or anything!

let me know how the weight loss goes. I really hope you achieve your goals and make sure you eat lunch, very important. good luck:)
