Paramedic class is a 2 year program which includes every class needed to become a paramedic and pass the National Certification Test. When you finish You will have an AA degree in Emergency Medicine. You can then apply those credits towards to a 4 year degree in Emergency Medicine or take a 1 year Bridge program into Nursing after you have been a working as Paramedic.

Most Colleges will require that you be an EMT-B or what is referred to as an EMT Basic for 1 or 2 years before you can take a paramedic course.

In Virgina you can apply to Volunteer with any of the Volunteer Fire or Rescue Company's and in return for your volunteering they will train you for your EMT-B. If you live in Northern Virginia you could consider volunteering in Prince Gorges or Montgomery Counties as Volunteer Fire & Rescue Companies are not all That plentiful in Northern VA.

It is better to have passed EMT-B before applying for paramedic school as the course is not easy and EMT-B will prepare you better for what you are about to experience.

Most paramedic courses are offered at the Community College level. I would suggest you contact you local community College for more information.

Well you have not stated what college you are looking at to going to, but I would recommend speaking to a college advisor about classes.

At my school we have an Emergency Medical Care classes, along with Safety, First Aid and CPR.

I would check with a college advisor, or give me the name of your local community college and I can search for you.
