One thing about friends is that when you get older most of them will drift away. You may or may not even be in high school, but people tend to lose touch when they go their separate ways (which you may or may not yet be aware of).

The most important characteristics to look for in a true friend is someone who will stand up for you, be by your side no matter what. Also this person will probably not be afraid of telling you when you're being, or over-reacting about something when you are.

Most importantly a true friend will never stab you in the back, if they do then they're a fair weather friend and you need to leave that person ALONE.
