He is basically saying you two shouldn't be parents just yet, because you are not ready financially. You don't have enough money to be raising a child.
In an ideal world, people want to have their own place to live, have steady jobs, with a steady income, so they can provide for themselves, their children and still be able to live comfortably and not struggle with money.
He's not saying he never wants children - but for now, there's not enough money. and babies are VERY expensive!

I am not a guy but I can give you some advice... babies cost a lot more that most people think. He knows both of your financal situations and does not think you can afford it. Talk to him and see if he wants to have a baby any time soon, and if he does, maybe you guys could set up a bank account to save for a baby. When you both feel you have enough you can plan to have a child.

I hope this helped and good luck!

He is not ready to bring a baby into this world, He pretty much told you that you both cannot financially afford to care for a child at this time. This does not mean he never wants to have a child, It means right now he is not stable enough to have one at this point in his life. It is smart of him to realize this before it were to be too late, It would be selfish to have a baby because you want one. It is for the best of the both you and the child to wait a few years until you both are more stable in your relationship.
