She does not want me to do it becuase the practices are everyday and for like an hour and a half. she thinks i wont be able to study and get good grades if i go. i have wrestling practice from 3:45 to 5:00 or somewhere around there. Do you guys have any suggestions of what i could do or make some kind of deal with her?
I would suggest you start by offering the following deal. Tell mom that you will maintain your present GPA and if it should slip to something she finds unacceptable you will leave the team without an argument. The decision will be hers alone. Back this up with the fact that sports activities look good on college applications. Also if you are any good at wrestling one or more colleges may offer some scholarship money. The scholarship money is the key to your plea so emphasize this.
For your part understand everything you do comes with options and sometimes you may have to forfeit something in return. For you to join the wrestling team and maintain your grades you may have to forfeit some of your social life to do so. If your not prepared to forfeit something in return for the desire to join the wrestling team then you may want to rethink your request to do so. As for making a deal, you could aim high and say, you'll keep all your grades above a c if she lets you join. Or trade in extra housework for wrestling. Most importantly don't forget to tell her, you love her!! lol [ OctoberBeat's advice column | Ask OctoberBeat A Question ]
