Guy's will always try to make you jealous, I believe. I think he intentionally did that..to make you jealous, or just to purposely hurt your feelings.
I say, try to not give in to what he wants you to feel..that's ridiculous and immature.

He might, guys play a lot of really ridiculous games- I knew someone who would have his friends pretend to be his girlfriend to make girls he liked jealous/like him back. But keep in mind that if he does that, he's nothing but an immature pain in the butt and not worth your time.

Guys absolutely do that stuff to make other girls jealous. If it seems like he purposely did it in front of you and made it super obvious so you could hear, and he didn't really pay attention to this girl before, then he may be doing it to see how you react.
You also have to consider the possibility that he actually likes her.
I would lie low for a little and see what happens. He'll act interested in you soon and look for your reaction if he only did it to make you jealous.
