How do I get my kitten to stop mewing?

Question Posted Monday July 18 2011, 12:27 pm

My kitten is so adorable. He always wants to eat whatever I eat. Just now, I took out a slice of cake and milk and he's trying to crawl all over me, and try and jump on the plate so he can eat it.\

And typically he doesn't meow, or mew.. Only when he's hungry, needs to go to the bathroom or just wants attention. I have his food out but he just wants to eat the cake. I have a glass coffee table that I have the cake set on, and he's trying to go underneath and see if he can somehow get it (so cutte!)

Anyways, I feel bad but I definitely know I cannot be feeding him cake or cow's milk. So what can I do to make him stop wanting it so much, and make him stop mewing?

I have also heard it's easier to break young animals from wanting human food by giving them TINY samples but before doing so, in some safe way make it taste horrid to them. They sell sprays and powders solely for this. It's more commonly used as anti-gnawing utility. They try to gnaw. It tastes gross. They learn.
Hope this helped. ^_^

Your kitten is just being a typical kitten

Sometimes babies don't always want what the parents feed them, They want what Mom and Dad are having. You just have to tell your kitten "no" and put the kitten down. This kitten is young and has not yet learned what it should and shouldn't be doing.

When the kitten does this tell him "no" and place the kitten in front of his food bowl or on the floor. You have to teach the kitten that he/she shouldn't be begging and whatever you do don't feed the kitten the cake!

Also, I mind as well let you know be very careful how much milk you give a kitten/cat as too much can cause an upset stomach, possible vomiting and diarrhea as cats are lactose intolerant.
