I'm getting a six letter tattoo in cursive on my lower side area. Can I get a range of how much it will cost? and how bad does it hurt? Thanks!

Depending on the size but I would guess around $100 but perhaps as low as $60. But, remember you get what you pay for. If you go to a reputable artist you might pay more than you would like but you should not seek out a bargain. Tattoo artist are like any other artist. Their work means a lot to them (it's their art) and it's permenant. If someone quotes you a ridiculously low price be leary. I warn you, this is forever and you don't want a half ass job. As for the pain level, it WILL hurt. There is no getting around it. If you put it on a more fatty area it hurts even worse, keep that in mind. Don't drink alcohol before hand it does not help and actually makes it worse. The pain is tolerable and you will be fine. Believe me you will be back for more.

One last suggestion be very careful during the healing process. Do exactly what the artist tells you to do. I found A&D ointment to work very well. Stay out of the sun and don't scatch. I'm so excited for you. Good luck!

Cost and pain all depend on certain factors:

I have a tattoo of a lion cub on my back (more specifically, lower left) and it's slightly larger than the circle made when putting together my thumb & middle finger. It cost me roughly $70, including the tattoo goo I purchased (unnecessary, you only need unscented soap)

Pain wise, it hurt me when they did the outline of it, but once they began shading it in, it felt light slight scratches. the pain wasn't unbearable, though. and I have a LOW tolerance for pain.

A friend of mine got a quote on her foot and said it didn't hurt her at all.. she also has a very high tolerance for pain.

My sister has a tattoo on her foot, color, covers the top of her foot, paid under $200, I believe, and said it was pretty painful.

The pain depends on your tolerance. The price depends on where you go, color, size, quality, difficulty, etc.

Well it all depends on the design, coloring and how big you want it.

I used to work at a tattoo parlor a few years back, A medium sized tattoo about the size on your back hand would range anywhere from 140-250 dollars.

It all depends on where you go too, Different places have different prices.

Example: I once tattooed a picture of a cat paw with wings on the side, Pets name in the middle with a halo above the paw print. Again, The tattoo was about the size of a back hand and it costed I believe 235. If you want an ideal price then pay your tattoo parlor a visit tell them what you want. The bigger you have the more expensive and as far as the pain it's different for everyone.
