2. Look for a stop smoking program with your doctor.
3. Or try a free telephone-based program that links callers with trained counselors.

They are sick nasty disgusting!! put them around your house (wherever you leave your ciagrettes or lighter) the images will soon haunt you and you'll be really disgusted. The pictures will be a reminder that says "hey if you keep smoking, this is what your lungs will look like :( "
Also- the key to stopping a bad habit is WANTING TO STOP. if you don't want to stop, or if you're never motivated.. then there's no point in stopping.
I have a bad habit of biting my nails and eventually I just got so sick of having nasty nails so I WANTED to stop biting. Everytime I got the urge to bite my nails, I would remember "hey.. I really WANT to stop this habit" so I would just put my hands down.
Maybe try a different approach like doing something different instead. Since smoking requires your hands, try doing something different with your hands. Keep yourself busy so you won't be tempted. For example- take up painting, drawing, building, cooking, cleaning, gardening, typing. Anything to keep you and your hands busy. Take up a sport or even just go to the gym and exercise. Swimming is so much fun too! Its great for your health!!
Lastly, find someone who is trust worthy and loyal to you. ask them to take every single cigarette and lighter you own, and throw them away or hide them. Yep. You heard it. This way- you won't see them and be tempted. If you have a usual corner in your house where you smoke or where you keep your lighters, decorate it so it wont remind you of smoking. For example, put some vases with flowers or a TV or yoga station or computer.

You are addicted to smoking. So, how to get rid of an addiction? Get addicted to something else, something better.
Start working out, this gets your mind off smoking, and it betters your health. Find another hobby and invest in it. Whenever you feel the need to smoke, take a jog around the neighbourhood.
Try smoking the electronic cigarette. Try nicotine patches. Or nicotine gum.
There are many ways to help, but in the end, it is all you... Good luck! [ orphans's advice column | Ask orphans A Question ]
