Complications include bone problems, low body temperature, irregular heartbeat, permanent failure of normal growth, loss of periods and the development of other conditions such as Bulimia and depression. Women with Anorexia are also at higher risk of miscarriage and premature birth, which can lead to medical problems for the baby.
According to this website ([Link](Mouse over link to see full location)) up to 10% of teenage girls in the United States suffering from Anorexia die as a result of complications, starvation or suicide.
Symptoms include refusing/not wanting to eat in public, anxiety, depression, brittle and spotty skin, shortness of breath, secrecy and obsessing over calorie intake. If you (or suspect someone you know) is suffering from Anorexia then you should seek immediate medical help.
