xokristabelle answered Thursday January 27 2011, 8:54 pm: I've rescued multiple phones from being dropped in the toliet/bathtub (yes, i'm a dork sometimes), and here's what I've found works:
- As soon as it happens, act quickly, take it out of the water and take it apart as much as you can (battery out, etc.) Dry it off very well with a towel or paper towels.
- Then as soon as possible, you need to put it in a sealed ziplock bag of uncooked rice. Leave it there at least a day, then put it back together, turn it on, and see how well it's working. If it's still not working right (had that happen), put it back in for another 2 days or so. If after a week, it's still not working right, it's a goner.
The rice thing sounds weird and I doubted it at first but it totally works. I had a phone that would turn on but the buttons didn't work right, and the rice totally fixed it.
Best of luck! [ xokristabelle's advice column | Ask xokristabelle A Question ]

If that doesn't work, then you didn't get the phone out of water in time to save it. For future reference, if you ever drop your phone in water the first thing you need to do is take out the battery. This is because when a phone is dropped in water but tries to keep working, that is what causes it to break down completely. Goodluck, Jess. [ Hitoast's advice column | Ask Hitoast A Question ]
