I agree with Goo Gone, it IS fantastic stuff. Also, cold and heat can be effective, but be careful which you choose and how long you apply it (depending on the surface.)

Cold can be applied in the form of a simple ice cube, or even canned air with the can held upside down so that only the freon shoots out.

Heat can be from a hair dryer or even one of those bean bag things that you microwave to apply to sore joints, (shoulder, knee, etc.)

Lastly, there is a product called Bestine that you should be able to find in many stores or online at places like Amazon. As with anything, be careful to avoid damaging the surface that you're trying to remove the sticky tack from.

Good luck with it!

Goo Gone is great stuff. Every home repair kit should have some in it (but as someone who is totally and completely allergic to it) I'd also suggest trying to freeze it off the wall with ice cubes.

(Unless it is carpet, than I'd agree steam is your best bet: Goo-Gone is highly acidic and can leave stains.)

Try goo gone (google it, that's the name, "goo gone") with water and a rag.

Should work just fine so long as we're not talking about carpet. If it's carpet/fabric, you might need something with steam.
