You made a mistake by telling her how you feel, and by sticking around for so long as a friend when you wanted more than her friendship.
Those are the two worst things you can do if you want a girl to like you.
Sorry, pal. You've ruined it for yourself.
Next time, don't act like the little brother of the girl you like. And don't tell her how you feel.
Ever.
Even if you've been married for 80+ years.
It makes things boring, and is a huge turn off.
Period.

There's nothing you can do.

She's been with her boyfriend for longer than she's known you, that sounds pretty committed to me.

You must accept that nothing is going to happen betwen you for the forseeable future and just appreciate her friendship - it sounds like she dealt with the situation in a rather gracious and sensitive way.

If it's too hard to deal with just being her friend then tell her you need some space for a while, I'm sure she'll understand.

Please don't think I'm being unsympathetic in this situation - we've all been there - but the best thing for you to do right now is try and get over her. It will be hard but once you do, you'll be able to find someone who is just as funny/clever/pretty as this girl and who returns your feelings.
