My period is three weeks late and I don't know why.

Question Posted Saturday October 30 2010, 12:19 am

18/f
My period is three weeks late and I have absolutely no idea why. I'm absolutely positive that I'm not pregnant, so please don't go there. I'm a freshman in college, and one of my friends told me that living around a bunch of girls can do weird stuff to your cycle. Is that true? Could that be what's happening?
I'm still PMSing though; I have been since the time I would have normally began PMSing. And it's awful. What can I do?

There doesn't have to be a good reason for skipping a period. It happens and is nothing to worry about.
Living in a dorm situation can affect it as was mentioned in the answer before me.

Some common reasons for missing a period could be stress, exercising more than you normally would, gaining weight...the list goes on.

I wouldn't worry about a missed period unless you have had unprotected sex, or you are having pain.
If you miss more than a couple, see your doctor.

Living with other women can shift your cycle - women in group living situations tend to have their period at the same time.

Bear in mind that, even if everything is going well, one's freshman year is very stressful. Almost everything in your life has changed!

However, if this goes on much longer, you might want to chat with the infirmary on campus.
