ALMOST CUTTING

Ok i was thinking and i took my one knife and took it into the bathroom and i tryed as hard as i could to get close to bleeding i knew i wasnt and now my hand feels like its on fire and one mark is still there what schould i do?????

First, I agree with every word of Peeps post.

Second, I'm not a doctor and so all I can tell you is go to your parents. If you have to lie and say it was an accident and you were making food or something, do so for now to just make sure you're OK. You NEED to talk to someone adult about it who can get you medical care if you need it.

Third. Cutting is an activity designed to take your mind off your issues by introducing other issues. It's whats called a negative outlet. Think about what might be a positive outlet.

I'm a gamer and a reader. Always have been, always will be. Gaming lets me relax, and focus for a period of time on something that makes me happy. Reading is the same, I can sink into a world not mine and pretend my issues don't exist for a few hours until I'm calm and stable enough to deal with them. Everyone has coping mechanisms. Cutting is a very bad one, but there are plenty out there. You just need something that'll take your mind off what's going on enough to let it drop for a little while.

Find something that introduces more happy into your life instead of replacing sad with different sad.

Cutting is very harmful and the release you may feel from the self-injury will only need to be increased within time. Scars on the arms just aren't attractive and it will be hard to explain when you wind up with deep lacerations and burn marks from your self-injury attempts. I've seen this first-hand and it's very, very unsightly.

Instead of trying to release your pain, frustration, and internal problems by self-mutation try to focus on improvement. Make goals for yourself and try to achieve them. Reward yourself when you've done good.

Talk to a therapist on a regular basis.

Self-injury in the form of cutting or other methods that break the skin can wind up very bad. You can end up with infections, including infections that can eat your flesh off of your body if particular bacteria get into the wound and begin to flourish. There are a lot of flesh eating bacteria that cannot be stopped once they progress to the point that the infected person notices there is a problem. You can die from infections caused by cutting. It's very, very serious and very, very dangerous. We're not talking a quick, painless death either. We're talking a death that occurs once the infection causes the vital organs of the body to shut down one-by-one.

My passed relationship was not a very good one and is something I'm pretty shameful of. The only thing I do wish I would have done was take a picture of the guy's arm. It was what self-injury looked like a few years into it. It gets progressively worse. It no longer makes you have that rush. It becomes addiction. It was really, really bad, and something you'd imagine seeing from a horror film. I wish I was kidding.

are literally NOTHING compared to what cutting progresses to. I know because I have seen it.

You feel the marks need to be deeper, wider, and more. My ex actually burned his own flesh with a lighter at one point because cutting with razors simply wasn't working any more. Talk about disfigurement. And, unfortunately, there is nothing that will make those marks just go away without a lot of cash and reconstructive surgery.

I know how it feels to be overly emotional. I know how it feels to not fit in. I know how it feels to have absolutely nobody you can trust, rely on, or lean on for support. The truth is, cutting isn't going to solve anything. At all. Not even a little bit.

Talk with a counselor.

As for your current wound, if you've broken the skin then you need to tend to it. Wipe it out with peroxide or alcohol. Keep the area clean and dry. Bandage it up with sterile gauze and medical tape. Leave it alone to heal. Refresh the bandage twice a day and then after a few days, when it has scabbed over well, you can remove the bandage to let air get to it to further the healing.

Hurting yourself is never the answer.

Reach out. Tell someone. Ask for help. It's okay.
