That's one of my homework questions but i don't have a job. And I'm really bad at makign up faking situations/lying. But your answers will not be in vain! Your problems will help me learn if I face a situation like it one day when I work. Thank you so much!
Problem: Male co-worker sat behind me during lunch and splashed me with water before saying, "I'm cumming! I'm cumming!" He thought it was funny, and I thought it was degrading.
Cause of the problem: The male co-worker is young and immature. He thought it would be funny to make a joke in front of his friend by picking on me.
How to handle the problem: I confronted him after asking him, politely, to discontinue and that it was troubling me. He continued. I approached him and told him I would file sexual harassment if he didn't stop. I immediately left and approached the manager and informed him of what had just happened and my threat to file for sexual harassment in the work place. He said if we wanted to talk about this then we could go to the office and try to get this sorted out. I declined. He had the male co-worker come apologize later to me.
Was it handled effectively?: Yes and no. I should have filed for sexual harassment. It was degrading and not amusing in any way. The confrontation did make him stop but I feel this problem may arise another day with another female co-worker who isn't knowledgeable of this sort of sexual harassment.
