i say you make like a basket, or hamper of little things?
For food ideas, maybe make home-made jams/jelly's?*
Or A variety of different cookies?*
Cup Cakes? Or one big cake?*
Maybe some of their favorite candy/chocolate.
A bottle or two of their favorite soda/drink?
*Theres loads of recipes online.
