If you've been eating little and not eating enough to gain weight, it's because your body has adjusted your metabolism to live on what you're eating. Normally, you'd need about 1500 calories a day to live. If you feed it 500, then eventually your metabolism will adjust to it and 500 will be the new amount you need to live. That's why you stop losing weight. If you're not eating very much, then exercising more will not help you get over the plateau!

This is going to sound totally counter-intuitive, so bear with me. Eat more for a day. Eat 1500 calories, or 2000.

Why? Because this resets your metabolism. It goes, "Okay, so I'm not starving anymore" and begins to live on that larger amount again.

I'm on a very low calorie diet right now, and this is what I have to do. I graph my weight loss, and you can see the decrease in speed before I have a splurge day. Once I do, I begin to drop weight again. It works :)

you probably aren't exercising enough. if you are not eating enough to gain weight, but are eating enough not to lose weight, the only way you are going to lose weight is to burn more calories! also drink a lot of water during the day and cut out pop/sugary juice drinks/etc. don't add extra salt to your food. try to cut out as many condiments as possible. use healthier dressings: balsamic instead of ranch. anything that can cut calories. good luck!

There's only factors to work with...

If we don't eat food, our bodies figure a famine is on the way, and so our metabloism slows down to conserve energy and keep us alive.

So... keep eating, but eat foods low in fat or sugar and avoid hydrogenated oils. Veggies are great, smoothies, whole grains listed first on the ingredents list.

Eat less meat. I'm a big meat fan, but the fact is, if you eat x number ofo calories or veggies and grain and x number on calories, your body will gain more weight on meat. Look for high bulk foods that your body keeps working on for a long time - beans, celery, nuts, oatmeal, not instant, eat the skins on fruit and veggies. Eat the fruit, don't drink the juice.

Increase the calories you burn. I don't know
your current level of activity, but whatever it is, increase it. Park far away in parking lots, lift some weights, do some exercises, use one of those computer dance/exercise things.

Increase your water intake, and cut out pop and fruit juice, icluding diet pop - it keeps us gettting that sweet taste and makes it easier for us to cheat.

Good luck!
