am i anorexic?

Question Posted Monday August 2 2010, 12:16 pm

17 female
i am never good enough for myself. it doesnt matter what i do, ill always hate my body.

ive struggled with bulimia because i have always hated my body. my entire life has consisted of me never being happy no matter what weight i am. recently i lost about 15 pounds by exercise but i still hate my body. i look in the mirror and just see the things i hate, like my belly. i feel like the same person as before. like i said before, i struggle with bulimia, but i work hard at it. what i want to know is do you think im anorexic? i must say though im not skinny. and i feel like only skinny people can be anorexic and bulimic, so thats one of the main reasons ive never told anybody about it. i feel like if i told someone then they would think like "wow, you would think that she would be skinnier if she were bulimic."

idk, i know most women hate their bodies so maybe its sorta normal. like i said, ive never told anyone about this or any of my weight issues. everyone knows me as the funny, laid back, no drama chick. i also have a really hard time opening up to people about stuff because i hate feeling vunerable.

i just want to look in the mirror and be happy with myself no matter what i look like. can anyone help?

It's true that how you feel is not totally unusual. Nor is how youre going about the problem, but it is not the way that you should go about it. It might be a good idea to get some counseling. They should be able to improve your self image and help you love all that makes you... well, YOU :) Also, giving yourself a pep talk in the mirror sound silly, but can really work. Try repeating one phrase over and over for a few minutes each day. Tell yourself that you are beautiful or that you are a great person that doesn't need to go to drastic measures to reach a body image that is unattainable.

Try different, healthier ways to lose weight but first MAKE SURE THAT IT IS NEEDED. There is such thing as losing to much weight. If you tell me your height and weight, I could tell you if youre at a normal level.

Tons of woman all over the world feel the same way you do. Don't think about other girls, and how they are anorexic, or bulimic. You need to take care of yourself, and yourself only.Think of it this way, if you continue being bulimic, or anorexic, you will actually end up looking terrible, your face will be all saggy, and you will be just skin and bones! There are ways to get healthy without these extreme actions. When you look in the mirror next time, point out something you do like about yourself, such as your eyes, or your lips, or even your hair color. Everyone has at least one thing they like about themselves. Also, let your personality shine through past the way you think you look like. After you wake up every morning, say one thing that makes you special, such as your sense of humor, or how well you treat your friends. This will eventually make you feel better as a whole. Good luck, hope I helped! If you'd like more advice please let me know, but I highly suggest seeking therapy for what you're going through right now. I can help, but only to an extent. Remember, beauty comes from within.

i get wat you mean, im the same way. personally, women everywhere critize about their bodies, and its in our nature to do so. Everyone had at least one thing they dont like about them selves. But to other people that one thing may be beautiful. I dont think your anorexic by any means. Loosing 15 pounds by exercising, thats awesome! just b carful and be consious about your weight and not to go over board. and its not all about your weigh, its has alot to do with your hieght as well. You could be very tall and still be heathly still having some weight on. You can be short and be very skinny and still be healthy, its how you see yourself. And i think you should talk to someone about your feeling on your weight, it helps alot trust me. If you ever want someone to talk to, im always here. Everyone is beautiful in there own way. Theres gonna be people fatter than you and theres gonna be people skinnier then you. You have to be the one to decide what is a heathly weight for you and works best for you. DONT WORRY ABOUT WAT OTHER PEOPLE THINK! trust me it will get you no where, just make you feel worse about yourself. Hope this help! If you have any more questions, im here and glad to help. Good luck!
