Why do I feel depressed when I drink alcohol? I drink alcohol occasionally when I go out with my friends. Everyone seems to be having a great time when we're drinking except me. I always feel really, really sad. It's weird because I could be having the best day of my life but when I start to drink I really get down and low about everything. I end up crying and really ruining the mood for everyone. I have decided not to really drink any more because of this but I'm curious why it happens. Does anyone know why alcohol changes my mood?

Just reiterating, alcohol is a depressant, so it making you sad makes sense. If it makes you sad, don't drink it, simple as that.

maybe its just the result of drinking so much try not drinking more than 2 cups and see how you feel if you dont feel better just stop drinking completely
hope this helps ]
Alcohol depresses me too. Alcohol is technically a depressant; it has lots of effects on the body that can trigger short term and long term depression. There is no exact reason that some people respond to it more strongly than others.
Alcohol makes me really as well, so I rarely drink. On the few occasions I do, I know not to drink very much - at all - and to gravitate to drinks with lots of sugar, coolers or spirits and soda. The sugar high helps, and I’ve also found liquor doesn’t upset me nearly so much as beer. However, like you, I mostly just choose not to drink 'cause it makes me feel shitty. ]
Alcohol is categorized as a depressant drug, so it can have that effect on people, although it doesn't happen to everyone. ]
