why does cold water make hair shine

i thought my friend was lying about how she made her hair shine like crazy but i tried it anyway and it really worked so why does cold water make hair shine? do you know?

I asked my stylist the same thing.
She said it's like pores on your skin except for your hair. When cold water goes over it the hair is smoothed giving it a sleeker look. After you shampoo rinse with hot water then condition and rinse with cold. It just makes your hair better and healthier.

There's a layer on the outside of your hair called the cuticle. When it is damaged and doesn't lay just right it can make your hair duller. Hot water doesn't really help it, but cold water helps it lie flat, so it's smoother. And we know that smoother things are shinier! :D (Think of a piece of smooth metal versus a piece of really crumpled metal..)
