Good things to do while babysitting for age 11 I'm 17 and I got this lady in town to let me babysit her daughter. The girl is 11 years old and I will be babysitting her this weekend. The lady said I could take her to my house if I'm more comfortable with that but that I need to have her home and in bed by 9 so she can get to sleep shortly after.
Well, I have only babysat like 5 year olds and I don't want to make this 11 year old feel like I'm treating her like a baby or something. What are some good things to do while babysitting an 11 year old? Games to play maybe or what? I figure I can't just pop a movie in and let her entertain herself with it like some of the little kids I babysat wanted to do. I want to be a good babysitter...

if you aren't afraid to make a little bit of a mess get some corn starch and water. then mix it in a big bowl and let the kid dip their hands in it and play around. The corn starch and water makes a solid and a liquid. Kids love it and you probably will too! And it is educational i suppose if you look up the facts about it. Good luck! ]
Hey there! I babysitt a family of 4 kids.. youngest 1.5 yrs and oldest 12yrs. WIth the 12 yr old she usually helps me out she loves to bake so we alwys bake together.... she loves watching movies/t.v. and we just talk... sometimes when the little ones are sleeping I do her hair )straighten it) we even paint eachothers nails.. ive known her since she was teeny but basically just treat them like a sister and have fun but be safe (: Good luck hun! ]
Try to find out beforehand what kind of things the girl is interested in. If you look after her at your house, it's a good idea to get her to bring some of her books and toys. If she's a quiet girl, she might well be pretty happy to read, play or watch TV/a movie by herself.
If she is more interested in doing things, then arts and crafts are always a good option. You could paint or draw or if you don't have access to paints etc then a collage is a great inexpensive option - just use old magazines.
Another good, simple and free idea is to play word and paper games. Consequences is a good one - where you each write a part of a story or part of a picture in secret, fold the paper up and let the other person do the next part and so on. Another good one is hangman - this is great as it also helps with their spelling and learning words.
Whatever you do - clear it with the mother first. ]
