This is all assuming what you downloaded is NOT Digital Media Right (DMR) protected. If it is, itunes will NOT import it. This applies to wma as well as any tunes originally bought from an itunes store or other store that only sells DMA protected audio. There is no way to tell until you start to download the file as far as I know.

TIP!!
After, or AS YOU ARE DOWNLOADING IT, You CAN tell by trying to play the song first in the Limewire player, even if it's only 1/4 downloaded. (in Mac it's double click the song). If it plays you're good to go. If the limewire player doesn't play it, and your computer tries to open some other player with error message, it's copy protected.
If you DO get an error message (usually it says "the license is inconsistent, or there is no encoder blah blah") move on.
So look for .mp3 or .m4a files if you can.

WHY PEOPLE SHARE COPY PROTECTED SONGS IS BEYOND ME, but maybe there are cracks or ways around it. I don't know of any....

If it's NOT protected, itunes will convert the wma file automatically while importing. I'm told this can take a bit of time and there are free utilities out there that will do the conversion for you much faster.
That said:
Basically, all you need to do is this.. meaning the easiest way!!!... ;)

1. open itunes- drag the itunes window slightly to right so you can still see half of the full list window.
2. locate the folder where you have the tunes you want to import.

YOUR Options:
a. import and entire folder of tunes: (drag the folder into the itunes window and let go. I tunes will import all of the tunes automatically.

b. Open the folder with the tunes in it's own window, and drag that slight to the left, same as you did with the itunes window. I have a Mac, but however you do it, select all of the tunes you want to import. On a Mac, the simplest way is to press the apple key and while holding hit the letter "a" (you just selected "all files").
You should see all the tunes in the folder highlighted.

4. drag all the highlighted tunes over to the itunes window and let go of the mouse.
I tunes will import all of the tunes automatically.
On windows, select either all of the tunes or separately select the ones you want to import.

But regardless, YOU CAN DRAG A SINGLE TUNE OR 50. Even if you're not sure if you already imported it, it doesn't matter. That's why I always select "all".
IMPORTANT!
For your own file purposes, place the songs in band folders FIRST before importing. If not and they're loose, if you ever change the location (such as putting all Green Day songs in new folder you name "Green day".. I tunes will lose track of where the songs is, and won't play it when you click it.
So do ALL your arranging first.
If you want to let itunes do ALL your organizing for you, in itunes preferences "advanced" click "copy files to itunes media folder when adding to library". Then after you import them you can delete them from your downloads folder.
itunes will not duplicate imported songs even if you changed the name of the file AFTER you import the song. As long as it's in the same place as when you imported it, itunes will find it (assuming you DID NOT choose to have itunes organize and store the music in it's Ginormous itunes music folder.

Example: If you downloaded a song file named "01-Sally-Sue.mpg", and you did as I do.. removed the "01" so the song file is now called The REALLY Good Band-Sally-Sue.mpg in your files and won't show up at the top of the list (standard file sorting always puts numbers before letters in a list view of a folder).

In that case just do all your renaming first (there are free utilities that can bulk rename files). I use one where I can select "remove the first two characters etc. it can be set that way.

After you've renamed them to your liking with or without the band name first (many tunes on Limewire are listed without correct band names AND the ID3 tag info DOESN'T have the correct band name. Then, if you click on the bar that says "album artist" or "Artist" to see all tunes by that band you get a useless list.

I personally like to use band names in ID3 tags, since I can still use the search window to look for a song title, but in the full itunes song name list, all the bands/artists WILL be together... But that's totally just my preference.

SO many tunes on Limewire are incorrectly tagged as to the artist. ANYBODY who vaguely sounds like Billy Joel is listed as the artist. John Cougar, Harry Chapin (The Cats' in the Cradle, Taxi etc) and many others are tagged as Billy Joel, so importing them without the corrections gives you not only a bad itunes list...
But also you are virally propagating the wrong performers as others upload tunes that you share!!!
btw, YOU SHOULD SHARE.. GOOD KARMA...

Burning a CD. Itunes can do it. You CAN'T burn single songs in itunes. YOU CAN ONLY BURN A PLAYLIST!

So make a playlist of the tunes you want and you'll magically see the "burn disc" button appear in the lower right corner of itunes.

Drag the tunes into the order you want them to play in on the CD and then, click "Burn Disc"

Remember to make sure you have a CD player that can play MP3 songs. If your main CD player can't play mp3 Discs then you need a utility to convert the tunes to "aiff format" (standard CD format). Also free converters are around.

The other option is to use limewire to download Toast, (or just buy it), a really great CD/DVD burner program with many more options than itunes has. If you can get a copy, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT
ITUNES IS NOT A VERY GOOD BURNER PROGRAM.

In Toast's window, you first select audio CD or MP3 disc, depending on what you want. Then you CAN drag single songs right from the folder and arrange them in the order you want. As you add songs Toast automatically shows you how much space on a standard CD you've used, so you know how many more songs you can add. Add as many or few a you want.
The simple way then is to press the red button "record disc" and the CD/dvd try will open asking you for a blank disk.

Toast burns faster and better than itunes.
If, like me you want to burn multiple copies for friends, toast allows you to save time by using something called "Save as Disc Image"

Basically, it will save the thing as a "Toast CD file", so next time you want to burn another copy. you just double click the CD image and you're ready to burn!!
Makes life simpler, unless you're just burning one mix for the night and that's it.

Hi

I'm not sure how Itunes works but I do know that if you use windows media player, You would drag the songs from Limewire into the library. In order to burn a cd yes you would need to import all the songs onto a Cd first before they are burned.
