ConfusedX2 answered Wednesday April 7 2010, 8:31 pm: it doesn't hurt when they are physically putting them on, but your mouth will definitely be sore for probably a couple of days afterwards. I would suggest taking some tylenol/ibuprofen right before going to the orthodontist. you will have appointments once a month or however often they want you, and they will tighten them and it will be sore after each of these times too. but not as sore as the initial time. Just eat soft foods at first when you're adjusting. Ice cream/popsicles/smoothies are also good choices.
I liked doing my colors based on the season/upcoming holidays. ie springtime=pastel colors like light yellow and pink or something. summer=neon green & hot pink. christmas time=red & green etc.
don't get blacks or browns because they look gross on your teeth.
good luck! just remember that it will be worth it when you get them off i promise! i had mine on for 2 years & im so grateful I got braces because i love my smile now :] [ ConfusedX2's advice column | Ask ConfusedX2 A Question ]
One_Whisper answered Wednesday April 7 2010, 3:29 pm: I had braces for 4 years, To be honest they do somewhat hurt when you have them put on. However, It's more of a sore feeling then pain. I would suggest NOT getting the colors Green or Yellow. Only because it looks like you have crap in your teeth. Try not to chew gum, From experience if you get gum in your braces you will have a hell of a time getting it out and it's NOT fun. For the first few days of getting your braces on eat soft foods (Salad, Jello, etc) Your teeth may be sensitive to anything hard. Try avoiding anything too cold, Sometimes eating things that are ice cold will make the pain worse. [ One_Whisper's advice column | Ask One_Whisper A Question ]
