Obsessed?

Question Posted Saturday April 3 2010, 1:34 pm

Female/18. Sorry if this is long. So i transfered to a new school my junior yr and now its toward the end of my senior yr. Just yesterday one of my friends told me that this girl in our class said that i was obsessed with myself and always looking at myself! And that its annoying. And so i asked this girl that said it and she said that other ppl say it too! ): that made me kinda sad. i usually just go to the bathroom 2 times a day to check my makeup throughout school. 1st, I am a girl and care how i look. 2nd, i have bad self esteem and worry what what i look like so i just like checking that my hair isnt up in the hair or my makeup isnt smeared down my face, because thats happened before and no one has told me! so i worry about that as well! ugh..now im worried n dont wanna go back to school. first off ppl dont know me, so i wish they wouldnt talk like that. but what should i do? i was better off not knowing, but do you have any advice?? it would be really nice!
p.s. lets just say i only have till May and i am done with fricken high school drama!

Pffffh. Don't care what people say. 20 yrs. from now nobody will remember what you did in hs. I check the mirror like 5 times a day and that doesn't mean I'm obsessed.

Honestly it shouldnt matter what people say about you ive been through what your going and at first it bothered me but a guy told me that your doing it to make yourself feel better and if people have something to say they should either say it to your face or just keep quiet and besides it shouldnt be bothering them because it doesnt involve them so just ignore people and do what you want but if you feel like its bringing you down just go to the bathroom less and dont check yourself out as much. Hope this helps :D

I really care about what people think too, and when I hear people talking about me I take it really personally. But you just have to consider how people talk and how easy it is for mean things to come out of their mouths, and how they never consider how it might hurt that person. They probably don't take the comment they said about you very seriously. And for what this girl said, saying that other people say it too may have been her trying to justify herself.

Most likely one or two people have said this, if at all. It's hard but you cant stop people from talking, so if you hear it you can confront that person and tell them if they have something to say say it to your face or just blow it off. Since you are so close to graduating, I would just let it go.

Its deffinitely hard, but try not to take what they say personally.

Good luck,

-Abby
