What things should I avoid during pregnancy? I just found out that I'm a few weeks pregnant and it's been pretty stressful trying to change my lifestyle around. I have stopped drinking and have cut down dramatically on smoking cigarettes. I know you're not suppose to do other drugs like weed so I have been staying away from my friends who do those things so I don't end up in a bad situation for my baby.
What else do I need to avoid though? What else is bad for my baby? I don't want to be taking something in my body that is harmful if I can avoid it and I don't want to be doing things that will risk my baby's health. Is it ok to exercise and stuff when you're pregnant too? I don't know anything about this...please give me some advice!

Very important: Find an OB-GYN and set an appointment. The appointments will be regular, and become more frequent once you reach the 3rd trimester. Do not miss these appointments, because they are important to keep track of Baby's health as well as your own!
Of course you know not to drink or do drugs. You should of course quit smoking, but I'm a realist and say cutting down is certainly a good step in the right direction. Smoking is VERY HARD to quit. I know, because I quit, but I won't lie to you and tell you it was before my children were born.
I found an OB-GYN that who was also a realist: She didn't want me to smoke, but praised me on cutting way back. I am a coffee drinker, and she allowed me one cup per day.
Exercise is excellent!! Stick with low impact, though, until you can get in to see your OB. We are ALL different, and our bodies all deal with pregnancy differently (Heck, both of my pregnancies differed from one another...), and your exercise routine is something you want to work out with good ol' Doc OB.
When it comes to what you consume, if it's bad for you, it's bad for baby.
Only eat fully cooked meat. Though medium-rare steaks may taste the best to you, it's best for you to have them well done until baby is born.
Under no circumstances should you eat sushi or any other form of raw fish or meats during pregnancy! High risk of food poisoning with that stuff. Don't eat a lot of tuna, either because of mercury.
DO NOT take aspirin. If you have a headache, take Tylenol only, unless Doc OB says otherwise. Other than taking Tylenol for aches, take NO MEDICINES unless Doc OB says it's ok to do. Many medicines can be harmful to baby.
A site that I found EXTREMELY helpful during my first pregnancy is linked below. I highly recommend it, because it is a wealth of pregnancy knowledge. In fact, it will inform you week by week what you can expect to go through and what's going on in Baby's World of Warm Belly Goo.
I think you'll find it as helpful as I did.

You shouldn't just cut back on ciggarettes, you should stop smoking them all together. You should also avoid secondhand smoke as much as possible.
Don't take any medication until you talk to your doctor. They will tell you what's okay to take and what isn't. You should start taking folic acid and prenatal vitamins as soon as possible.
Stay away from caffeine too. No sodas, no coffee, no nothing. Start eating healthy as well. Stay away from junk food and start snacking and eating healthy. You should eat 4 or 5 small meals a day.
You should only excercise if you already do it regulary, and even then it should not be anything to strenuous. That is something you will definitely want to talk to your doctor about.
And as you said, stay away from the obvious stuff. No drugs, no alcohol. The most important thing for you to do for your babies safety at this point is to get to a doctor. They can talk you through everything you need to do from here on out.
Good luck, and congratulations! ]
The only exercise I would suggest doing now would be walking. Also watch bumping into things and try not to fall down. Spicy foods can cause heart burn but it really depends on the person and what their body can intake. Drugs, smoking, and alcohol is given because it cause severe problems. I would suggest taking vitamins during your pregnancy or what they call prenatal vitamins. Try to avoid stress in anyway you can, the minimum thing that will happen is you will be put on bed rest but enough stress could kill the baby. Also eat lots of meat it helps build the baby's immune system to be strong. There are certain proteins that can only be found in meat like chicken, turkey, etc ]
