Question Posted Saturday February 20 2010, 12:50 am
I really want to learn how to drive but, of course, I want to do it legally and not just take my mom's keys. My mom said she doesn't really care if I learn how to drive right now or not so it isn't a big deal for her. How do I get a learner's permit so that I can learn how to drive though? None of my friends drive so I don't really have someone to ask and I don't want to ask something stupid to them anyway. Where do I go for a learner's permit?
Oh, and will I need to take a test or anything? If so, is there any way I can prepare myself for a driver's learning permit?
lovealways1221 answered Saturday February 20 2010, 11:58 am: first of all, have you taken any classes? you need to take drivers ed classes (like actually in a classroom). then you go to a drivers exam station and ask for a written test. (this test is all about the rules of driving, like what do the signs on the streets mean? and what does a flashing red light mean? and how far are you supposed to park from the curb?) then if you pass that test, you get your learners permit. you have that for 6 months (or until you turn 16). during this time, you sign up for behind the wheel classes. this is when you get behind the wheel with a professional instructor and they tell you actually how to drive. after the 6 months (or until you turn 16) you go back to the drivers exam station and ask for the license test. this is when you drive around and there's a teacher in the car with you and they tell you if you get your license or not.
search on the internet for a drivers exam station in your state. and search for classes in your local area. normally there's supposed to be some at your High school.
