I have been a member on polyvore for almost 2 years now, and i just created a group. How can I get people to join? I need 28 more people to join in order to make a contest!!!

Yes, you shouldn't advertise.
However, I will answer your question::
Ask your friends to join. I'm not sure if this is allowed but maybe just post it in your about me on here.
However, your friends are your best bet. Not many people look at peoples columns!
