Question for Catholics

Question Posted Tuesday January 26 2010, 11:44 pm

I'm 17. I went to a church retreat last weekend and never had felt so close to god. I started reading the bible (starting with exodus) and I'm starting to find it contradictory. Maybe I'm looking at it the wrong way, that's why I need help answering a few questions.
God wipped out all he had created except Noah and his family because they lived in the way god wanted the world to. He killed everyone else with a flood because they turned corrupt. After, he made the covenent with Noah that he would never do it again; the rainbow symbolizing it.
Here are the questions
1. If god killed the corrupt then why don't we believe in the death penalty; those who take lives are corrupt and killing them would be considered gods work wouldn't it?
2. If god is perfection and all knowing then why did he make that covenent with Noah saying he would never do it again like if it was a mistake?
3. In matthew 4 the spirit leads Jesus to the desert to be tempted by the devil. If gods love is true, perfect, unconditional then why would he lead his son to be tested? Wouldn't that be the equivalent to having a good looking guy talk to my girlfriend to see if she would flirt with him? I wouldn't do that to my girlfriend if I truely loved her.
That's all, I really hope someone can answer my questions. My confirmation is coming up

1)There is the difference between God's works and satanic works. those who kill have no love for God or haven't found God. each man has free will to make his/her decisions and it's either God's way or not.

2) It wasn't a mistake. did you read about the thoughts and filthiness the people toward the angels. the city didn't have more than five people save. All were nonreligious and corrupt in sins. God made that promise to Noah because he wanted man to be able to trust him and what he does. he made that promise to show his honesty. And yes you right HE IS PERFECT.
3)God sent Jesus there for a reason. God has a purpose for everything he does. TRUST IN HIM. God knew what will happen. he wanted to show the readers and his disciples that not all riches and un spiritual things are going to get you in heaven. He stated that it is easier for a donkey to go through a needle than it is for a person to get to heaven. we are all sinners. Trust!

if you have anymore questions please ask me. i will be happy to answer them.

1st. Death penelty; Laws are governed by man and each state & country have different laws but god's law is for everyone who believes in him. When Jesus was crusified he was so in the company of a thief & a murderer the murderer asks him to forgive him and take him to his kingdom the theif did not. Jesus saves souls not condem them. Who are we to condem a man for all eternity for his sins. That should be up to God to decide not man.
2nd. Noah was chosen because his family were up to the task of God's plans. Noah had a great love for his lord and all living things. God kept his promise about the floods no more.
3nd. God love; Jesus had a purpose in his life. and prior to the 3 yrs he was preaching the word of God it is said he went into the wilderness this is where God taught him what he had to do. In his moments of weakness starving & thirsty Satin tempted christ. Christ love for God was stonger than his desires. You don't have to be a chatholic to know these things they are for everyone who is willing to recieve him. I try to live my life following the 10 commandments I can live a good wholsome life that way a life God would be pleased with.
God Bless.
