preferably answer if you are familiar with nutrition

Question Posted Tuesday December 29 2009, 8:26 pm

Hi everyone. If you are willing to give me some advice you think can help me, feel free. I would greatly appreciate it. Let me begin by giving you a little bit of my history. I use to be a little chubby. I wasn't huge. Just chubby, but I think part of it was that I was still growing into my body. Like my boobs didn't fit with my body yet, etc. However, people can be crewel needless to say and some comments got to me. Combined with stress, last year, I dealt with an eating disorder. I lost a lot of weight. Somewhere between overweight and underweight, I found a weight where I was happy and comfortable. Through my recovery, I suffered a couple of bingeing episodes and got to a weight where I was no longer happy and comfortable. Its not too far away. I would say about 10 or 12 lbs. I decided to start this week. I have been eating super healthy. For a while, I didn't really make healthy eating my goal. It was to stop bingeing and put an end to this crazy cycle. But, I want to feel good again. I've been eating healthy, but I just feel like its not a weight loss maybe its just because I went to such extremes to Lose weight once that I don't know how to do it healthy. I would go 2 the gym and exercise 2 hours five days a week. But now, I go 2 school and have 2 jobs. I go to the gym 4 times a week and have a spinning bike at home I ride for 30 minutes when I can't take the class at the gym. But, I just need a little more guidance with the meals. Somewhere I can find a sample menu at least. So I know I'm on the right track. Thank you and happy holidays!

Thank you
Cristy

HI Cristy, congratulations on getting your weight were you want it, and exercising. Eating healthy is one of the most important things you can do for yourself. So many disabilities and diseases can be caused by unhealthy eating.
First it is important that you get a little protein at every meal or snack. Protein does not have to come from meat. It can come from nuts or eggs. I used a protein powder made from hemp. It's green! And I mix a smoothie up each day and have that with breakfast and lunch. At lunch I ad a half grapefuite and a salad. At dinner I eat a souce of animal protein. Meat, chicken, or fish. I include lots of vegetables and fruit in my diet. Inbetween meals I snack on nuts and/or yogurt. I use only olive oil in cooking and I drink plenty of water. Spring water, not tap water. I avoid fried foods, baked goods, and salty snacks like chips and pretzels. But sure, once in a while I eat pizza. Veggie pizza mostly.
When I do eat break or pasta I try to eat only whole grain. And cereals too, I only eat whole grain cereals. It is important to read labels.
With all this in mind, you should be able to make up some meals using the foods that you like and that are healthy for you.
Good luck to you
and Happy New Year
Michele
