Crate Training my 6 month old puppy

Question Posted Wednesday December 9 2009, 10:49 pm

I just got a 6 week old german shepard, dalmation, and shar-pei mix female puppy. I have always crate trained my dogs so I dont have to worry bout them going to the bathroom in the house while I'm gone. My 7 month old male does just fine in his crate but the female is having some problems. everytime I put her in the crate for bedtime or to leave the house she cries. She doesn't stop crying the whole time she is in there. It's hard for me to go to sleep when she is crying and it bothers my husband. what can I do to make it easier for her to understand that her crate is her home? Someone please help me so I can get some sleep..

For my puppy I used a clock to help the crying. The ticking sound reminds baby animals of their mothers' heartbeat and helps soothe them into sleep.

*Hope I helped!
