Will your hair really grow less if you dont get it cut enough?
Question Posted Saturday November 14 2009, 5:13 pm
So when i told my stylist that i wanted to grow my hair out, she told me that i should still be getting it cut every month. She does a good job with my hair and all but i feel like she's just trying to get more money for me. If hair grows from the roots then I dont understand why getting it cut more regularly would help it grow faster. Can someone please explain this to me. Also, any other tips to help me grow out my hair would be much appreciated.
Melody suggested hair growth vitamins. And I'm going to have to agree with that. I bought some about a month ago, and my hair has gotten longer. My hair was maybe an inch or 2 past my shoulders, and now it's mid back. It definitely works, so I would try getting some. You can get them at any vitamin store whether it be GNC or the Vitamin Shoppe. I'm pretty sure I got mine from GNC and I got the bottle of 60 for about $9.99 which is fairly decent.

good luck :)

According to Cosmopolitan magazine though, it's just a myth. Getting your hair trimmed every month is not going to help your hair grow faster, but it is essential to keeping your hair healthier looking. Split ends do not just go away, they will continue splitting up until your hair is completely damaged, so you should still get a regular trim. I doubt you would need to do so once a month, but once every few months would be ideal.
You cannot make your hair grow noticebly faster, but there are a few things you can do to aid the process; start taking the vitamin called "skin, hair, and nails" This keeps your skin vibrant, your nails strong, and apparently helps your hair grow faster. I have no idea if that's true, but I have heard it helps. Regardless it will keep your hair healthy, and that is always a plus. :) [ Melody's advice column | Ask Melody A Question ]
Katlyn answered Saturday November 14 2009, 5:37 pm: K well you dont need to get it cut but you need to get it trimmed just a few inches off because it gets rid of dead ends that are preventing your hair from growing so ya you need to get rid of the dead ends so your hair can continue growing also jsut keeping your hair healthy and preventing damage is going to help your hair grow so for example before straightening or curling or blowdrying your hair use a heat protectant so ya this will keep your hair from getting damaged from the heat so ya just follow these steps and you should have awesome hair.
