dead hair.

Question Posted Thursday November 12 2009, 5:40 pm

my hair is like dead. i dyed my hair 3 times. the 2nd time it turned out wrong and went platinum blonde. (god was that horrible). but now my hair is golden blonde with dirty blonde/ light brown hair roots coming out. it is extremely ugly. the roots are about 3 inches long, i went to my hair dresser about 2 months ago to get it dyed, and she said she wouldn't dye it because if she did my hair might fall out so she said wait till my roots came in good. well i really want to dye it now, but how do i know its healthy enough without going back to her and asking her ? and i've been scrunching my hair more often for about 3 weeks now to make it more healthy, but what are more healthy ways to make my hair more healthy than deep conditioning ?

Try to avoid heat as much as you possibly can. Instead air dry your hair and allow it to flow naturally.

If you've been deep conditioning like a fiend and using no heat for a couple of months and your hair still doesn't feel any better, get a hair cut. Sometimes only a few inches is needed to make your hair look beautiful again.

Good hygiene is important for healthy hair. This includes brushing the hair properly and washing it with a mild shampoo.

Good nutrition (a well - balanced diet of fresh foods and lots of water) not only helps one to have beautiful - looking hair but also improves it's texture.

Give your hair a good brushing before bed. This should be done by bending forward from the waist, head down, brushing from the back to front. Brush at least fifty to one hundred strokes.

If you use alot of styling gels, hairsprays ect, you need to make sure you get all of those products out of your hair. You could use a clarifying shampoo once a week or you could just add a tsp. of baking soda to your regular shampoo.

Do not vigorously rub your hair dry, this may damage it. Instead blot your hair with the towel and let air dry.
Never brush soaking - wet hair, as the hair is quite elastic at this time and can be pulled and stretched to the breaking point.

If you bleached your hair, that was the biggest mistake ever, especially if you have dark hair naturally.

I bleached my hair blonde and it was dead and wouldn't grow for two years. It broke off terribly and was fryed completely.

The best thing to do is either dye your hair back to it's natural color and do not dye it anymore until it is healthy and back to normal, or let your roots grow out until your natural color comes back on its own.

DO NOT straighten or blow dry your hair until it's healthy again because that will make it ALOT worse.

From experience, I know how you feel right now and unfortunatly it's miserable =/
Hope I helped, anymore questions inbox me.

Try not to put any products in your hair. Let it just grow naturally for about 2 weeks.. I know it seems gross but in the end the natural oils in your hair will come out and that is the best cure!!

Try to leave it even longer if possible.. In the mean time, wear thick head bands or scarves in your hair to cover any uncomfortable regrowth... try to wear it down as much as possible so it can air out.
