Why is obama considered a socialist by the majority of people?

Question Posted Sunday November 8 2009, 7:41 pm

Why is obama considered a socialist by the majority of people? I'm not trying to down him, I'm just asking because I'm trying to understand politics better, without forming a biased opinions. I don't wanna hear "he's not a socialist"... I just wanna hear why people may believe he is one. If that makes sense. i wanna understand socialism better... and his supposed connection to it.

Thanks a lot.

Socialism, when you boil it all down, basically means spreading resources based upon work an individual does. Cuba has an extreme socialist economy. Everyone who can work has jobs, and everyone also has access to education (both elementary and post-secondary), health care, food and housing. Nobody is rich, but nobody is destitute either. And boy, does that annoy wealthy Americans (which is what your government is made up of!).

People say Obama is a socialist because he's trying to break down the enormous divide between rich and poor. Poor people go to poor schools, so they don't get a good education and they stay poor. Even if they do, by some miracle, succeed moderately, they can't afford university. Have you ever heard the phrase "The rich are getting richer, and the poor are getting poorer"? The US is that concept in action.

The health care issue is the main thing that's causing people to say that Obama has socialist views. He wants to make health care a national industry, like it is in the UK or here in Canada, neither of which are communist countries!

Here's how the health care thing works; you get sick and need to go to the hospital. Good thing you have health insurance! What's that? You work for minimum wage and can't afford it? You have a pre-existing condition that the insurance companies refuse to cover? The people who have money either can afford to buy insurance, or pay for health care emergencies, or they have jobs with great benefits. The poor, on the other hand, who really NEED the security of health coverage, go without. I'm not talking people on welfare; they get it. It's the people who work hard for little pay who get screwed in this arrangement.

Rich people don't like this idea. It means taking away their money and giving it to other people. It makes no difference to them whether there's accessible health care to everyone, because they'll always have access.

Pure communism has an impact on your home life. Socialism doesn't necessarily mean that the government is trying to take over all aspects of its citizens. Then again, that's what your government is good at, right? Look at the bans on gay marriage. That's a case of the government walking into the bedrooms of its citizens. You can have both; you can have social freedom and financial jurisdiction.

Keep in mind that your Democrats are still more conservative than Canadian Conservatives!

I seriously love the people that say your racist for being against Obama and his ideology.
your a fool to use that.

Obviously its not just Obama, these socialized plans been in place for a very long time, just its is now coming through not slowly, but quickly, Hidden Bills being sighed left and right while the media tells you what they want you to hear. you see, you go against there plan and they snuff you out. Fox news is an example

They are going to pass the health care system no matter what people say, and they will.

They are going to sigh our country's sovereignty
whether we the people like it or not

government own the papers, they own the banks, they own the news NBC, ABC, CNN and others
Government control is there plan, World Government is there goal.

Its not hard to see these things, unless of course you don't want to, or.. perhaps minimum knowledge

Point is: it doesn't matter if your democratic or Republican, it whats going on in the government
plz see this. plz

Because people are idiots. He is not a socialist, actually the furthest thing from it. That is not my opinion, it is a fact. People are racists and will say whatever they can to get others full of hatred as well. I guess it's because of his attempt to have a public option. He doesn't like seeing 47 million people without health insurance either because it's not affordable or due to preexisting conditions. We are the only country without national health care, and he wasn't even going for that. He just wanted a public option in which people still have to pay for it regardless. However the dumb "tea party" people think that no one deserves that. What really gets me is old people get medicaid, and social security yet no one else is allowed to have any of the same benefits as they receive. They are very selfish. When you hear people say that his plan would support abortion, or that he'd cut old people off medicaid, those are lies. Heck one of the republicans doesn't even have the respect to let him speak.

Even Republican presidential nominee John McCain said that he was totally disrespectful.

Although he has opposing views to Obama's he was respectful to let the man speak. He did apologize but it was the most phoniest apology I've ever seen out of anyone in my life time.If you have any more questions on this topic, please feel free to ask.

this is going to require about ten minutes of my time to pull out evidence, read very carefully.
EXAMPLE 1:

if this link doesn't work; look up "ronald reagan healthcare" on youtube. now heres the deal:
The principle of socialized medicine has been around for over a century, and its been shot down several times in the U.S., while many european countries have applied it. the basic principle is, that instead of paying for health insurance, you would pay taxes to the government, who would in turn pay for your healthcare. unfortunately, it doesn't work out as planned, and the care provided sucks. doctors wages are locked, so theres no incentive to improve their skill or quality, only that they meet the quantity. Medical research goes straight down the tubes, and a once excellent healthcare system is ruined.
This is why people like me are freaking out. I, as a soldier stationed in europe, had been subject to the german medical system... those surgeons are butchers, with little regard to aftercare, or patient comfort.

I used this example to give you a present day reference point, now, on to answering your question:
1: ACORN, SEIU, and the like, are community action groups. They advocate "spreading the wealth"(ie: socialism) to bring the masses out of poverty. They also happen to have ties to the present administration. hell, the President even spoke at an SEIU conference.

2: When on the campaign, the president was confronted by small business owners about his tax plans, to which he replied "we need to spread the wealth around"(this is a synopsis of his comment, google "joe the plumber" to find out more)

3: some of his closest advisors are known, self pronounced, and unrepentant Marx socialists. its going to take a minute for me to gather some names and links for this one... okay, look these people up: Anita Dunn, Van jones, Mark Lloyd, Ron Bloom
These people are special advisors...
so-called "czars" for their respective industry or initiative. Anita Dunn is particularly funny, quoting mao and mother theresa in the same sentence.. thats talent.
In addition: a fellow named Robert Mcchesney; head of an organization called "free press", known to seek goverment censorship of the news media ( in order to make it less biased) has been meeting with the President....

This is terrifying. in one interview, the SEIU head advocated " force them through persuasion, and then finally persuade them through force" in order to push their agenda. its one thing to deal with regular hippie-socialists, its another to take on whackos like these that send their minions out to town hall meetings in order to muscle around the average citizen.

for a full list of these "czars"

I know, its glenn beck. there's a lot less controversial people to be quoting for this, but none with the mass of required information to answer your question fully.

here's your baseline: a Republic(yes, we're not a democracy), like ours is based on the principle of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. there's nothing in that statement about failing, but you have as much freedom to fail, as you do to succeed. we are a Laissez-faire based economy.

Socialism: government controls the economy, levys taxes on those who are successful in order to boost up those who are not, and generally controls all aspects of your life.

the larger a goverment, the more it will intrude on your daily life. if it goes south, like its looking to, you'll be waking up one day, and telling your grandchildren about how great Freedom was, and how through short-sightedness, you lost it.
god, I love ronald Reagan.

so I guess you can tell which side of the wire I'm on. hope this answered your question, because it just took me forty minutes to assemble all this answer.
