Question Posted Thursday November 5 2009, 11:56 pm
How do you tell a guy that you don't like him? I want to tell this guy that I'm not interested in him but I don't want to be mean about it. He's just not my type and I don't know what to say to let him know that he needs to stop pursuing me. How do you tell a guy you don't like him and you're just not interested?

Lonely_girl answered Friday November 6 2009, 5:44 pm: Be gentle and honest. Tell him your not ready for a relationship, or that, really, you just don't like him that way. Say you guys make such good friends, you wouldn't want to ruin it by starting a relationship. Don't be too cliche, that will seem very condesending. Be as honest as possible without being mean or corny. If he does value your friendship, he'll probably be able to accept that. It will take time for him to heal and you should respect that. Put yourself in his shoes, if you liked a guy, what would you want to hear (aside from the obvious). I hope this works out for you.

anywho.... a straightforward statement of "you're not my type" is worth a thousand subliminal messages. offer to find a girl for him... play the sacred role of the yenta... and if you don't know who or what a "yenta" is, watch "fiddler on the roof"....it will explain everything. including how to properly deal with your present situation.
