Why Don't I Like Disney Channel Anymore?

Question Posted Saturday October 17 2009, 12:10 pm

I use to love the Disney Channel and could sit for hours watching it. On the weekends I would be glued to that television! When I was little I watched things like The Care Bears, My Little Pony, and The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh but later I watched The Proud Family, That's So Raven, and Even Stevens (Shia LaBeouf is awesome). Now, I can't stand to watch that stuff! Especially with the Jonas brothers and Hannah Montana / Miley Cyrus. I can't even STAND to watch The Suite Life of Zack & Cody!

I'm 14 though and, like I'm saying, I use to LOVE Disney. Why don't I any more? My friends like it...

Just because you liked some of the shows on a channel doesn't mean you'll like all of them.

Ask yourself: if they showed some of the shows that you liked when you were little, would you still watch them?

If yes, maybe it really is the quality of the shows themselves. If not, maybe you just don't like kids' shows any more.

How is not liking Disney Channel a problem anyway? Go ahead and find something else to watch (documentaries, maybe?), or do something other than watching TV.

You grew out of it. It's completely normal. I used to watch shows like Pepper Ann and Even Stevens, and Lizzie McGuire. Stuff like that. I have watched The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, but I stopped watching when they switched to the boat. I do watch Wizards of Waverly Place & Sonny With A Chance though, and I'm 18.

Either way, it's completely normal to outgrow things. It'll happen with clothes, a certain style, bands, etc. Your friends will catch up eventually but it's all fine for you not to watch it. Why don't you try watching Degrassi or something. Maybe that show will be more your speed.

Maybe beacuase the quality of the shows aren't to your standards anymore. Or quite possible the things you loved to see in the shows before aren't in the new ones.

I think that shows from when i was little were the best, to me they were better and taught me a lot. Now, not so much.

Also you are growing up. Try to watch other shows that aren't aimed for preteens or kids. It might appeal to you more.

its normal. i used to watch disney channel as well & i still watch 'thats so raven' sometimes even though i'm turning 17 in a few weeks haha [:
but the shows are aimed at people with a certain age. winnie the pooh, care bears etc are aimed at children who are like 6-10 years old. it's normal that you dont like them anymore because your brain works differently now.
i used to watch winnie the pooh as well when i was about 10. & i always found it sooo exciting etc. and then recently when i was babysitting I watched it again & i found it really really boring.
it's because my brain is 'older' now and handles it differently.
& thats probably what's happening to you. 'age' doesnt always matter. i mean i know this guy who is also 14 and looks & acts like 18.
it's just like playing with barbies or something x]
you just reach a certain age where it's not exciting anymore. it always depends on the person.
i stopped playing with barbie when i was 11. all my friends did when they where like 8 [ or at least thats what they said]
i guess youre just ahead of your friends but thats not bad.
just try finding different TV shows that you like.
its not the end of the world [:
hope i helped. good luck!

Put simply, you're growing up! Children's programmes no longer hold you as you need more in your life. Your friends will catch you up but it sounds like you're the leader in this!
