my menstral cramps are absolutely terrible, like the first day they hurt so bad i'm like screaming. midol doesn't do much and neither does tylonol or anything really. i've heard that birth control helps it? but my mom won't let me get on bc because she says it causes breast cancer. (i was also thinking about birth control because i want to start having sex with my boyfriend of 2 years and i want to be safe) but yeah do you think birth control would be a good idea for me? what are some of the side effects and how can i convince my mom to let me on it? thanks
I went on birth control and it helped so much! My periods do not interrupt my everyday life anymore. It's the best thing I ever did. I would do research and print out information from multiple resources and then go talk to your mom. You have to have some information to back you up and it will also show her how serious you are about this.

When I was young I used a hot watebottle against my cramps this was very helpful in relieving pain. Hope this helps [ Daintree's advice column | Ask Daintree A Question ]

I even read one article that suggested a LOWER risk when you're on the Pill.
If you don't have a strong history of blood clots birth control would be really beneficial for you. It would probably help calm her fears if you started on a low-dose pill. They're just as effective but have a significantly lower dose of hormones.

Some researches think it's because some of the pills now in days contain a lower amount of hormones then when they first came out with the stuff, they lowered it so we'd have fewer periods. Every heard of that one Birth Control that lets you have only 4 periods a year?
Yeah don't EVER get that one...bad idea. Well anyways, this would most certainly make you regular, and ease the pain of cramps. It's also good form of protection if you want to become active, aslong as you take them at the right times and never skip or forget. :b
For now, to ease the pain of cramping, I found taking a nice hot or really warm shower/bath helps the ouchies go away, along with putting a heating pad on your lower abdomen, tea would also help. I like mint! =) Hope I helped! [ animelove's advice column | Ask animelove A Question ]
