If you have an hour of time to devote to exercising, get moving and run, bike, dance, walk, job, just get your heart rate up. That's a greater chance for results.

However, I can add to this that crunches are not a great exercise for weight loss. You are after all just training one muscle. You therefore burn few calories and you do not get the health benefits of cardio workouts.
Also, it is always a good idea to train opposing muscle groups. So if you train your abs, you should train your lower back too. Otherwise undue focus on one muscle group can create posture issues (which can lead to fairly serious problems). [ Alin75's advice column | Ask Alin75 A Question ]
