as for it not hurting as much, my boyfriend popped my cherry while he was fingering me, before we ever had sex and when we had it the first time it still was kinda uncomfortable. your vag is wicked tight your first time so it has to stretch in order to allow his dick to go inside it, so either way its gonna be kinda uncomfortable.

a tampon isnt going to do anything. poping your cherry can happen any time... by riding your bike and going over a big bump that hurts your vag or even horse riding. but sex will hurt weather your hymen is broken or not because your vag is tight and and having sex stretches it because of the thickness of the male penis.
so dont worry about it. it will happen when you have sex.

"Popping a cherry" actually means tearing your hymen. Even if you were to tear it before you have sex, it would still probably hurt due to the tightness. I've heard of people tearing theirs while riding horses or even bikes, so it is possible to tear it before sex, but I doubt it would make it hurt less.
