my best friend is a vegetarian and she really doesn't eat much besides salad, fruit and macaroni and cheese. she does complain about feeling week sometime and she gets sick a lot! i know she needs protein but she refuses to eat anything with protein in it. what can i do? im nervous for her health!
Being a vegetarian means you don't eat MEAT. You HAVE to eat protein to stay healthy. No wonder she's weak! It's right for you to be nervous, because it's dangerous to not eat any protein. There are plenty of other food with protein in at that aren't mean:
Talk to her parents, because she can't refuse to eat protein. She's going to develop a vitamin deficiency or something (I know this, because I did when I was a vegetarian).

your friend cant refuse to have food with PROTEIN in it
that sounds like she wants to lose weight.
and is harming herself.
she needs to read up more on vegetarianism.
if she is a vegetarian that accepts dairy products
she should try eggs, reduced fat or skim milk, whatever she prefers ( i would choose reduced fat)
also she can eat peanuts, which have plenty of protein.
she NEEDS protein
she cant live without it
she can live without meat.
but youll dye if you live without protein
no one can be a good healthy vegetarian unless they eat bananas (if your a girl, you NEEEED the potassium)
apples, oranges
and she could take prenatal vitamins
(its a lot cheaper rather than buying a bunch of bottles, and dont worry, prenatal vitamins are nothing to harm non pregnant girls, they are just filled with a bunch of good stuff)
she could try protein shakes?
if she is too lazy,
she needs to have some kind of talk with health advisors,
parents, or whatever
or find a good book on vegetarianism with meal ideas
if she doesnt look up on meal ideas and all the facts and what she needs to do, she wont be able to maintain this kind of lifestyle.
also,
her hair can fall out
if she doesnt have enough protein. [ Christine1993's advice column | Ask Christine1993 A Question ]
