SAT vs. ACT I'm going to be a senior next year and am beginning my college application process. I'm applying to some competitive liberal arts schools and have some questions about the SAT vs. ACT. I took the SAT as a sophomore and got a 2260 without studying really. But then I took two SAT subject tests and did poorly (not terrible, but one i was in the 90th percentile and one i was in the 65th percentile, so not great considering where I am applying). The schools require either SAT and SAT subject tests, OR ACT. My question is, would it be better to take the ACT, which i would probably do well on because that type of reasoning, like the SAT, comes easily to me. Or should i just submit my good sAT scores and not great subject tests scores.
Thank you!

Your only reason for taking the ACT is so you don't have to submit your SAT II scores, correct? That logic doesn't apply for all situations. It varies school to school on their policies on the SAT II combined with the ACT. Some actually still require the SAT II even if you do take the ACT. Because you're a senior and already got a Jesus score on the SAT, I'm sure you already have a group of colleges mapped out, so you should call their admissions offices just to make sure.
Personally, I'd just retake the SAT IIs again. You've got what, two or three more chances? I took the SAT and ACT. While neither are the cool place to be on a Saturday, the ACT is a piece of shit test compared to the SAT. One ten minute break in the middle, essay at the end. The SAT caters to a better chance to show what you know (that rhymes, obviously I know what I'm talking about). Honestly, you're SAT II isn't going to impact you too negatively when you're walking around with a 2260. If your grades are good and you have your extra currics, you're all set.
Enjoy the next few months, college apps suck pretty hard. ]
I agree with Jack, I think you should take the ACT. What have you go to lose?
If you did that good on the SAT, you'd probably do well on the ACT. And it would show that you're a hard worker and that you were willing to take both :)

I really know nothing about the SAT.
But, I think it's worth it to take the ACT. Make sure you take the ACT Plus Writing, because some schools require that, plus, why not? lol
Anyway, I really think you should take the ACT.
