It hurts the first few times, yes, but your body should get used to it after the first few times.
You're going to feel it every time, but it shouldn't exactly hurt. If it does, you might be putting it in wrong.
And 5-6 hours is a good amount of time to leave it in, as the advise time for tampon use is 4-8 hours.

If it hurts every time wen you take it out.I start wondering if you've had sex recently because you could be pregnant ]
They can hurt sometimes because you don't always put it in right and that is normal. It's very normal if it hurts a little bit. If hurts a lot of hurts every time then something is wrong. Hope this helps! ]
ive heard tampax pearl isn't the absolute best. the best that ive used is kotex. they are comfy and soft, and they're very absorbant so you can leave them in a little longer than the reccommended time. if the tampon is hurting, you just need to try a new brand.
take care. :) ]
Well, if it hurts to take it out, it's hasn't absorbed enough blood yet. When the string starts getting red at the top, it's definitely at its maximum.
I'd say to leave it in longer but definitely not more than 6 or 7 hours. If it has been that long and it still hurts, maybe try a smaller tampon.
Tampax Sport has come highly recommended to me.
If not, just use pads,
