If you just want to use the phone for messaging and calls then of course you don't need to get an internet package.

If you do want to use the internet on it, then you will have to add that on to your plan if you don't already have a plan with internet on it.

I'm pretty sure you would have to.

If your current package with Verizon doesn't have unlimited internet included, then you would need to add it on. Adding it on just basically makes it so you get the internet, but then it adds on like $20 extra bucks to your plan a month. If you get it for the whole family then that works too, but if it's just for your number it's added on to you & nobody else.

You should probably ask your parents if it's okay to add this on because I'm not sure if they'd be willing to dish out the extra money just so you can have internet so be sure that it's okay. Other than that, just go into your local Verizon store & see what they say.

I have an Alltel Blackberry Pearl and my phone has internet with it, but I want to say that the internet came in the service package. (Which might be why it seems "free" to her).

I do know someone that has a Blackberry Pearl that does NOT have the internet on it, though, I'm not sure what kind of service you have.

Try checking the verizon website, or call a local store. They'd have the best answers.
