Would you kill a loved one if they asked you to?

Question Posted Thursday April 30 2009, 6:42 pm

Hey everyone,

So I'm writing a paper on suicide and depression and I just am curious and want opinions to this question: "Would you kill a loved one if they asked you to?" Put yourself in a situation where someone you really love like your boyfriend/girlfriend, mom/dad, brother/sister etc. was so depressed and they werent getting better and they wanted to die and they came to you and asked you to pull the trigger or kill them. think of it as there is no way they will get better because nothing has helped and if you say no they will still go through with the suicide. if they seriously ask you to pull the trigger for them would you do it for your loved one because they are in more pain now then they would be after?

hope that makes sense! thanks to anyone who helps me out with this :)

Depression is treatable. I would know...

I would not ever ever take another human life. Unless someone took the life of one of my kids.

People who are depressed always always think that its never going to get better and the only way out is death, but thats exactly what depression does and believe me, it is treatable!!

Medication, exercise, meditation, herbal remedies, experiencing things you're passionate about... It all works.

i would NEVER pull the trigger. i couldn't EVER live with myself if i did that, i mean, even if they are FULLY convinced that they are never going to get better, there is still hope, still chances. and if i killed them, i'd probably have to same from the MASSIVE guilt trip i'd be on for the rest of my life. that's just not human.
final answer [just to make it clear]: no.

hope i helped! xxo.

Absolutely not.

To be honest, killing them would hurt a lot worse than if they did it themselves. I know that by killing them, I'd sort of be helping their cause, but I would never be able to live with myself knowing that I am what killed them (even if I didn't contribute to their depression). I could never do something like that, and would never.

So no, if a loved one asked me to kill them, I would never do it.

Well, my opinion is Christian, therefore i believe that no-one has the right to give or take another persons life, only God has that right, in other words i believe in the sanctity of life, that life is sacred.
Hope I helped

i wouldnt. i think you need to pick the morally right choice for yourself. speaking for myself i wouldnt have the courage to do that, i'd live with guilt for the rest of my life. i think that if someone wants something like that they should make the choice for themselves, i would try and get help for them though. :)
