so i met someone thru facebook...

Question Posted Monday April 27 2009, 10:58 pm

16/f

Some guy clicked on me on the 'Are You Interested' app on FB and added me. nbd, its happened before. I'm not really into that type of stuff but I really didn't think much of it. But we started talking and we have a bunch of mutual friends (he lives a town or two over). We've only been talking for a few days but he keeps calling me "beautiful," saying "we're perfect for each other," etc etc. I think he wants to start a relationship & start seeing each other in 'real life' (for lack of a better term) but online dating just seems really weird to me. Like I never use that application and when guys talk to me, I reply but only as a friend, not really flirtatiously. idk I just really don't feel comfortable dating someone I met online, even if I do know that he's a normal kid and not some psychopath. Plus I barely know him - I take relationships really seriously and I'm not going to start dating someone I've had a few conversations with. i might be willing to date him if i got to know him more, but that would probably mean meeting in person, so i'm pretty much contradicting myself, haha.

Should I tell him im not interested in him in that way, or give it a chance?

thanks :)

I would never meet someone online.

If you're not interested, then yes, you should tell him. Not telling him would lead him on and would only make you look bad and hurt him.

Tell him before it gets out of hand.

ya. it gets weird in a situation like this but always goes with what your heart tells you ... before your emotions let you do stuff you ain't want to put yourself into in the first place .. and if u feel like telling him that you don't want any of that don't feel like you acting like a jerk or anything but just tell him you not interested.

i agree with the people below me that it's a little red flag when you don't know someone and they say "your perfect for eachother" Simply, because he'd basing things on looks- he might just be attracted but not care about things like personality- which is deffinatly a factor for people like you and i who would rather have serious relationships than just flings. It could also signal he's clingy. If you know of the person,or the people you know, know him then it's not like he's a fake person who's really a creepy 40 year old. He could just not know how to ask a girl out :p! But to be safe i'd ask around to see who this guy is, what he's all about. If you do end up hanging out make sure you bring friends,of course ! Just make sure you talk to people who know him. As for online dating- well, i personally know people who've met from online and they were friends of friends just like this. It may be weird, but once you hang out it wont feel so weird.Just keep in mind (like the person below me said) if you really do feel uncomfortable don't force your feelings to change. If you're interested, just talk to him. i'm just worried about the "we're perfect for eachother" nonsence.

Bottom line: Once you talk more, get to know eachother,do your research on him and are still interested- then hang out with him and your mutual friends and see where it goes from there :D

Whao whao whao anyone that's calling you beautiful or assumes that you are perfect for each other before he has even met you is obviously bullshitting you. Anyway, you already know that meeting this kid would be entirely inappropriate because your gut feeling tells you so. So go with your instincts and stay safe.

i think you should tell him that your not that into internet dating. and that you aren't interested.

i think he might be being so flirty with you to try and get "in your pants." because if he didn't know you well and you met online that might be what he's looking for.

think about it. and good luck!(:
