is being quiet weird?

Question Posted Sunday April 19 2009, 9:52 pm

i've always been a really shy and quiet person. people who don't even know me think i'm weird because of it, am i? i'm not unfriendly or antisocial, i talk when people talk to me, i'm just not always the first one to speak up. i'm not very confident but when you get to know me i open up to people. i'm afraid of how other people percieve me and it makes me shy sometimes. is there something wrong with me? am i weird because of this? or is it their problem if they don't like me?

I completely understand. I've been shy all of my life and people think I'm strange and suicidal, and I'm definitely not. There is absolutely nothing wrong with you. If everyone was loud there would be many more headaches in the world. I say do what makes you feel comfortable and forget what other people think. If someone asks you "Why are you so quiet?" say "I'm more of a listener then a talker". It puts a positive spin on being quiet. A good listener is always appreciated.

I agree with music is life.... be shy if thats what makes you comfortable. I have been shy the majority of my life and I'm not dead yet from it. There is nothing wrong with being quiet.

It's definitely not weird to be shy & quiet.
I'd actually prefer people who are quieter, and a
little withdrawn.

It pisses me off when people have to have the
first/last word, people who talk heaps/too much. I
know people think they're being confident(and they
probably are) but I just find them annoying.

Fuck them and what they think. If being quiet and
shy is part of your personality then so be it, who
are they to judge?

I don't think you're weird. You're just quiet and shy. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that.

If they don't like you just because you're quiet, then you shouldn't want to be friends with them anyways. But honestly, don't worry about anything that people say or think about you.

You are not weird. Dont let anyone tell you that you are weird because you are shy. I have kids in my school the same way. You just need to find a group of friends that you can trust and be completely open with. Dont let others ever put you down(: Everybody has their own special quailities! Like I said find a group of friends that have the same interests as you be open with them hangout with them outside of school. Invite them too the movies to the bowling alley(; Have fun with them. But because you are shy does not make you weird remember that! (:
