Limewire only shares files that you tell it to share. It doesn't let people see all of your files or install things onto your computer. However, since there is no moderation of Limewire, anyone can put any file on it with any name, including viruses. People are often tricked into opening viruses in this way.

If you're using an up-to-date media player, it's not possible to get a virus from playing an audio or video file. And if you're careful about which files you download, you won't be tricked into downloading a virus. Read my guide here:

Hello.
First of all limewire does let virus in your computer. I'm not saying you shouldn't dowloaded but you should consider diffrent sources example Itunes, frostwire ect...
You can always check your local library or internet to find more safe places to get your music.

Limewire is terrible.

Its very common for people to take something popular like a song and imbed a virus in it so that when it opens, the virus is loose. Its hard to detect alot of it simply because via limewire new viruses can spread really, really quickly. Its an easy way to get something that antiviruses haven't countered yet.

Itunes is about the only real site for music you could expect to be reliable. Nothing free, especially for music, will be. The good and safe sources aren't sources you can come up with on google. Theres not a website you can go to, you have to run across people you can get music from.
