Question Posted Sunday March 1 2009, 1:04 pm

I'm seventeen & a virgin.
so therefore i haven't had my cherry popped. i was just wondering, when you have sex & say when i do maybe with my boyfriend.. does it pop when your having sex & will it just bleed? or will it bleed like after your done having sex? because that is really awkard if it just happens while your having sex.

Hey, im currently learning this in health class actually. and my teacher talked about this just today. She said that yeah, some people are born without a hymen, and some people break them by accident, like if you fall on a balance beem or are horse back riding, and bumping up and down, or even if you do the splits it might break. if it hasnt broken already, and you were born with one(no body can tell if you are or arent, the hymen is totally pointless), then it will be painful when it breaks, and it will bleed a little bit, but not like you are having your peroid. it will hurt a little. and bleed a little to, the first time you have intercourse.

Your hymen ("cherry") could have already tore ("popped"), from active sports or even tampons, and you might not even have realized it.
It is different for everyone. You might bleed when you have sex or you might not.
If you are comfortable with your future partner, it shouldn't be very awkward. If it does occur it would not exactly be a flood of blood either, so you don't have to worry too much about that.

To add to what was said, it really doesn't pop, your hymen tears from the skin stretching. That is why bleeding varies for each woman.

your cherry doesnt pop just during sex. it can also pop from riding a bike, fingering, tampons, masterbation, anything. and some girls arent even born with a hymen.

and yes, when it pops it will bleed. sometimes during sex, sometimes afterwards. its different for a lot of girls. but if your cherry DOES pop during sex, it will hurt. a lot. sooo..yeah.

be careful. :) take care.
