Question Posted Thursday February 26 2009, 5:32 pm
okay i just got my tongue pierced on saturday and it is now thursday. (its been 4 days) it is still swollen, and ive heard it stays swollen for about 5-7 days. but ive been worried because under my tongue ring theres a big hole the size of the ball of my tongue ring and the ring is kind of pushing into it. is this normal?! i think the ring is too small because my tongue is swollen.. and i told my friend and he said that i shouldnt exchange it out for at least a week or two and to just wait till the swelling goes down. anybody with tongue ring experience please tell me if this is normal, and when the swelling is gone, will the big hole heal? because its a hole the size of my tongue ring ball and the ball is sitting in it lyk a crater!

I do not think you have to small of a peircing I think it only feels that way because your tongue is still swollen. To help the swelling suck on ice cubes and try not too eat anything that is heavy. Eat light foods for a few days if this continues go back to the place you got it peirced.

Usually you then would switch it out to a proper sized barbell after up to 10 days (or whenever your swelling goes down).
If you try to change it before it has had healing time it will probably swell back up.
If possible, you should go and discuss this with your local piercer. They should be able to do something for your tounge. [ Samcia's advice column | Ask Samcia A Question ]
